"The Lord Hears the Cry of the Poor"

Above: Sr. M. Frances Anna at the school librarywith mostly empty shelves where textbooks should be.

There they found

• 500 students, including 120 girls who are boarding at the school, with no security for their dormitory
• classrooms in buildings without windows
• one textbook for every ten students
• inadequate shower and toilet facilities
• meals prepared outdoors with little sanitary care
• no house for the Sisters

In addition, the Bishop has asked the Sisters to minister to people who are sick with AIDS and to provide AIDS education in the rural areas. For this, they will need a vehicle.

The North American Province was given responsibility for this new mission on April 28th, the feast of St Peter Chanel (an early Marist Missionary and Martyr). That means it’s up to us to help in the support of our Sisters – both spiritually and materially. This we can never do without the help of our Partners in Mission. We count on your prayers and support to help us to continue to serve where the needs are greatest.

Happy Thanksgiving To You
Dear Friends,

At this time of year, we are reminded by the “Thanksgiving Holiday” to give special “Thanks” to each of you , our friends, relatives and benefactors. Be assured that we DO pray for you and thank God for each of you daily in our Community prayers.

Your friendship and generosity means so much to us and those we serve throughout the world. As you read this issue, you know we have opened ourselves to help the poor of Tanzania, Africa. With your help, we can accomplish much and we thank you for this.

May the Lord bless each of you and your loved ones
this holiday season. United in Jesus and Mary.

Lovingly in the Holy Family,

Sister Phyllis Doucet, smsm
