The Marist Missionary Sisters
75th Jubilee Celebration

In 2006 the Marist Missionary Sisters will celebrate their 75th anniversary as a religious congregation. In 1931 the Third Order of Mary (TORM) became the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary. In addition, 2006 marks the 160th anniversary of the arrival to Oceania of Sister Marie Francoise Perroton; one of the congregation’s pioneering Sisters. The highlight event will be a fundraising luncheon at The Westin Waltham with guest speaker Liz Walker in October.

There are several activities scheduled to celebrate these milestones of the Marist Missionary Sisters history. The first is an Open House on Sunday, September 10th, 2006 at 62 Newton Street, Waltham, Massachusetts. We ask our Marist family, former SMSM, family, friends and neighbors to celebrate with us in the Holy Name of Mary. On Sunday, October 22, 2006 there will be a Fundraising Luncheon at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, Massachusetts. Ms. Liz Walker, host of Sunday with Liz Walker on CBS4 (WBZ-TV) will be the event’s featured guest speaker. Ms. Walker, a well known media figure in the Boston community, will be honored for her efforts in raising public awareness to the slave trade in southern Sudan.
