On Sunday, December 10, 2006, the Marist
Missionary Sisters (SMSM) from the Australian province, launched SMSM
Mission Partners campaign during Sunday Masses at St. Margaret Mary's
Parish, Merrylands, and NSW. There are two SMSM communities within that
parish, including the Provincial House. Sisters from each of the Sydney
communities were available to talk with parishioners after Mass. The
sisters distributed brochures to the parishioners outlining several
ways in which you might be able to partner with the Marist Missionary
Sisters.
Partnering with us can be as simple as the service
of prayer. Pray one hour a week for the intentions of the Holy Father,
the Church and the SMSM. Learn about the Marist Spirit and try to live
it in some way. |
Write to a Marist Missionary Sister.
SMSM of the Australian Province also work outside Australia, in Bangladesh,
Papua New Guinea, Kiribati and Solomon Islands. Our ministries include:
training church workers, training health workers, teaching, nursing,
counseling and working with the disabled. Write to us at the contact
address and tell us which country or ministry interests you. Then we
will give you the name and address of a Sister. Then write to her telling
her of your interest in her work |

Help support a SMSM project. For example, in Bangladesh where we work with the disabled $20 pays for the salary of a helper for one week and $10 buys classroom supplies for a month. In Kiribati our SMSM Sisters operate a local kindergarten where $10 pays for a teacher’s aide for a week and $5 helps towards teaching aids. On Papua New Guinea our Sisters work with local women to improve living conditions. A contribution of $20 helps to provide for the upkeep of the SMSM Sister who works on PNG without a stipend. In addition, contributions to the Formation and care of our postulants, novices and student Sisters would be gratefully received.

Finally the Marist Missionary Sisters seek women
of faith who are prepared to be totally given to God in the manner of
Mary, proclaiming the Gospel with passion, zeal and daring by the witness
of our community life through our prayer, our presence and our work.
Willing to be sent to where the Gospel is not known, to where the Gospel
is taking root, towards the most abandoned and the excluded. We seek
women who are called to respond to the needs of today in new ways.
