New Provincial Council

On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, the Feast of St. Peter Chanel, Fr. Dennis Wheatley, ofm, officiated over a Mass to celebrate the handing over of the Provincial Leadership for the North American Province of the Marist Missionary Sisters. Sister Judith Sheridan, smsm, accepted responsibility to serve as Provincial for a second term of two years. In addition, Sisters Virginia Fornasa and Pauline St. Pierre, smsm, accepted to serve a two year term as Councilors with Sr. Judith on the Provincial Council.

Sisters Phyllis Doucet, Shirley Foust, Avelina Raiwaleta, and Judith Sheridan, smsm, were offered both prayers and thanks by their fellow Sisters for their dedicated service on the Provincial Council these past four years. In Sister Shirley Foust’s case, Sister served on the Provincial Council for a total of eight years.

The outgoing councilors handed lighted candles to the new councilors signifying the passing of Christ’s love and wisdom on to them. The assembled congregation offered this prayer for them,” May Christ be your light to brighten your way and lighten your load when it is heavy. May his presence with his Mother Mary bring you peace and joy as you journey. Amen”.
