Spirituality
The person
of Mary is very significant in Marist spirituality, as we
follow Christ Jesus in the spirit of Mary, the first disciple.
In trying to
live our religious missionary calling in todays world,
Marist Missionary Sisters look to Mary particularly in two
scenes in the Scriptures.
We ponder Mary in the newborn
church as she waited with the apostles for the coming of
the Holy Spirit. We do this in our preparation for being
sent on mission.
We look to Mary
also for inspiration on our "way of being at the service
of evangelization," a way of humble and discreet service,
"without imposing, in the desire that Christ be revealed,
while we ourselves remain hidden and as it were unknown in
the world, so as not to impede Gods action in those
we serve." (smsm Constitutions #20)
